This procedure is performed to increase and improve the projection of the gluteal region with a more appropriate way that will produce a balance in the body. The procedure is performed by placing a gluteal prosthesis that has different characteristics than the ones used in breast augmentation. This one is placed below the gluteus maximus muscle through an incision in the midline so that there is no visible scar.
In my experience after having placed, both round and oval prosthesis, the use of the oval is much more anatomical since the gluteal region is projected both its top and bottom and therefore is much more natural. When using round prostheses, the elevation was seen predominantly in the upper region.
